Citizenship by Investment

St Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment: Cost and Process

St Kitts and Nevis runs the world's oldest citizenship by investment programme, established in 1984. Here is what it costs today, how the accelerated option works, and what due diligence looks for.

The oldest programme in the world

St Kitts and Nevis has granted citizenship to investors since 1984, and its programme is often used as the benchmark for the region. Approved applicants receive full citizenship with no obligation to relocate, and dual citizenship is permitted.

Filing is through an authorised local agent only. The government's Citizenship by Investment Unit assesses every file through independent due-diligence providers.

  • Qualifying routes: the Sustainable Island State Contribution (SISC) or approved real estate.
  • An accelerated processing option is available at additional cost for applicants under time pressure.
  • No language, education or business-experience requirement.
  • Citizenship is lifelong and generally inheritable.

Who qualifies

  • Main applicant aged 18 or over, of good character and in good health.
  • Clean criminal record with police certificates from each country of adult residence.
  • Fully evidenced source of funds and source of wealth — St Kitts applies rigorous checks and has strengthened them in recent years.
  • Dependants normally include a spouse, children within age limits, and dependent parents or grandparents.
  • An interview may be required for adult applicants under current programme rules.

The process, step by step

  • Step 1: Eligibility and source-of-funds review before you shortlist a route.
  • Step 2: Appoint a government-authorised agent.
  • Step 3: Prepare passports, vital records, police certificates and financial evidence, apostilled where required.
  • Step 4: File; due diligence and any required interview follow.
  • Step 5: Approval in principle.
  • Step 6: Make the contribution or complete the property purchase.
  • Step 7: Certificate of registration issued, then the passport.

How long it takes

A complete standard file typically runs four to eight months. The accelerated option compresses government review but has no effect on how long it takes you to obtain apostilled overseas records — start document gathering first, and choose acceleration second.

How Island Legacy Consultancy helps

We provide consultancy and preparation only: route selection, source-of-funds structuring, document assembly and apostilles, and coordination with the licensed agent who files. We are not a licensed CBI agent or a law firm, we cannot guarantee approval, and where you have Caribbean parentage we will always test citizenship by descent first.

Important note

Island Legacy Consultancy provides consultancy and preparation support only. We do not guarantee visa, residency or citizenship approval, and this guide is general information rather than regulated immigration or legal advice. Costs, timelines and requirements change by country and over time — always confirm current rules with the relevant authority or a regulated adviser.
